Seniors
Exercise is considered important for good health, regardless of our age. Benefits include:
- increased stamina, strength and flexibility
- stronger muscles and bones
- more energy
For seniors, exercise may also be beneficial in reducing the effects of certain chronic diseases such as arthritis and high blood pressure. Exercise can increase strength and improve balance, reduce the risk of falling, and help seniors maintain their independent living status. Research shows that strength training may even reverse age-related loss of muscle mass. And the right exercise also has cardiovascular benefits as well.

Did you know...
Estimates show that 60% of the world population is not physically active enough to achieve health benefits. The hazards of inactivity are very clear. Each year in our country, physical inactivity results in more than 21,000 premature deaths and costs at least $2.1 billion in direct health care costs. Insufficient physical activity is a serious nationwide problem.
Research has repeatedly shown that engaging in regular physical activity reduces the risk of premature death, heart disease, obesity, high blood pressure, adult-onset diabetes, osteoporosis, stroke, depression and colon cancer. Physical activity can be enjoyable, inexpensive and easy; and, anything involving movement - even if it isn't vigorous - results in positive benefits to health and well-being. So get out there and make the MOVE TO HEALTH!!!
