Provincial-Level Projection of the Current Mountain Pine Beetle Outbreak

The Research Branch of the Ministry of Forests has provided a page with links to the documentation and reports for a project to conduct provincial-level projection of the current mountain pine beetle outbreak.

From the project description:

Mountain Pine Beetles are currently in the outbreak phase of the infestation cycle throughout much of their range in British Columbia. Adequate management of this provincial scale problem requires provincial scale knowledge about its extent. We can not hope to accurately predict the exact progression of the infestation. However, a projection of the range of possibilities, given a variety of uncertainties, will enable senior managers to make informed decisions about provincial and national level policies. This project will allow the detailed information that will be generated about a wide variety of stand and landscape level impacts to be "rolled up" to a provincial scale.
