Off Leash Implementation Strategy

Residents and visitors to Prince George have long since enjoyed exercising their dogs within the various open space areas that the community offers.  The implementation of a few pilot project Off Leash Areas has assisted with these needs however a formalized Off Leash Program is required to provide quality park use.  In December 2009, council adopted the Off Leash Implementation Strategy to effectively accommodate this user group while alleviating the issues associated with illegitimate off leash use at various parks and schools. The Strategy will include the establishment of an Off leash Advisory Committee and the formalization of existing pilot off leash areas in 2010, followed by off leash area expansion in 2011.

If you would like to get involved and provide your input, check back to this webpage thought the 2010 year to view public notices or meeting events. Your participation will ensure that the Off Leash Program meets your needs as both a pet owner and a park user.
