Fitness Descriptions
Water Workz
Work on improving muscular endurance and flexibility using equipment and the resistance of the water. Work on core conditioning using the water and equipment to challenge stability, balance, and co-ordination.
ROM - Range of Motion
This class is designed to help maintain or even increase the Range of Motion in the joints. Strengthening and flexibility are included. People with arthritis find this exercise ideal.
Cardio Pump (shallow water)
An intense cardiovascular class, finishing with a stretch component.
Shallow Aqua Fit
This is a self-paced cardiovascular water fitness class performed in shallow water.
Deep Aqua Fit
This fitness class focuses on increasing oxygen intake and muscular endurance.
AquaPower (shallow water)
This is an intense and challenging aqua fitness class incorporating upper body punching drills and lower body kicking.
AQUALITE (Shallow Water)
Low to moderate intensity cardiovascular exercise with minimal impact. Balance, core strengthening, resistance exercises and stretching are included.
Fitness Room
The fitness room at the the Prince George Aquatic Centre is outfitted with a compliment of free weights and weight machines. As well there is a full range of aerobic equipment, including treadmills, stair climbers, recumbent-bikes and upright bikes. You can also book a private lesson with our fitness instructor. Come try it out! Open facility hours.
The fitness room at the Prince George Aquatic Centre is open during our regular hours of operation. Age restrictions: 16 years of age and older (facility admission includes fitness room).
Aquatic Centre Facility Information
Main Pool
- The Prince George Aquatic Centre main tank has 8 lanes and is 52 metres in length with two moveable bulkheads
- The bulkheads will allow for two 25 metre short course and one 50 metre long course swimming competitions
- The main tank has a moveable floor with depths ranging from 0-1.8 metres, in the shallow portion of the tank
- 10 metre dive tower, has 1 and 3 metre springboards and a 5, 7.5, and 10 metre fixed diving platforms and includes a sparger system and surface rippler
- The main tank can hold about 2.8 million litres
Leisure Pool
- The length of the lazy river is 28 metres
- The waves can reach approximately 1 metre
- The swirl pool is wheel chair accessible
- The theme of the leisure side is a “wilderness theme”
Miscellaneous Other Trivia
- Other features include: a wave pool with rapids channel and zero depth beach, a hot tub, steam room and sauna
- Features on the “dry side” include a fitness room, multipurpose room, a food service area with on deck seating, change rooms, washrooms and administration area
- Maximum number of swimmers: 760
- A sparger is the machine that makes the bubbles when you dive or jump off the tower
- The dive club that makes use of the towers is the Prince George Mantas
- The swim clubs that take advantage of the PG Aquatic Centre include the PG Barracudas, PG Masters Swim Club, Pisces, and Special Olympics
- Water is disinfected with a combination of Ozone and Chlorine and filtration
