Registering to Vote and Identification
All voters will be required to register when they vote, the City does not maintain registered voter list prior to the election. Voters must present at least two documents of acceptable identification that will provide proof of your identity and place of residence. At least one of the documents must contain your signature.
Acceptable identification includes:
- BC Driver’s Licence
- BC Identification Card;
- BC Care Card;
- BC Gold Care Card;
- Credit Card – Issued by a Recognized Financial Institute;
- Debit Card – Issued by a Recognized Financial Institute;
- Citizenship Card;
- Status Card;
- Government Issued Military Identification Card;
- Passport;
- Firearms Possession and Acquisition Licence;
- Property Tax Notice;
- Current Utility Bill – Containing Elector’s Name and Address;
- Owner’s Certificate of Insurance and Vehicle License – Issued by ICBC;
- Or Other Documents Sufficient to Satisfy the Chief Election Officer
If you do not have a document that proves your place of residence, you may also provide two documents from the list above that prove your identity, and make a solemn declaration as to your place of residence to the election official at the voting station. Declaration of Residency. [PDF]
